Press release: Don’t let rubbish get on top of you

How to cope with the household waste centre closures

With Cornwall’s household waste and recycling centres closed to the public until further notice, are you accumulating bulky rubbish? If so, Cornish waste management company Wascle would like to help.

The Covid-19 lockdown has given many householders time to carry out home improvement projects and generally tidy up their living space. All of this generates waste which they would normally take to a Council ‘dump’. For most people, it means part of their house, garage or garden is now a refuse site. For an unscrupulous minority, the solution has been to fly-tip.

Social distancing

Fortunately, licensed commercial waste companies like Wascle are still allowed to recycle and dispose of rubbish at designated facilities. Wascle, based in Camborne and operating throughout Cornwall and Devon, can collect from outside your home – ensuring social distancing.

Its Man & Van service is much cheaper, easier and more convenient than hiring a skip. Simply book a collection online and then place your rubbish in an accessible area. Wascle staff will do all the loading and will sweep clean afterwards. Importantly, you don’t need to be present when they collect, so you can be out at work or stay safely in your house.

A neat new option now available is Wascle Waste Bags. Specially designed with a closable top flap, they fully contain your rubbish to stop items from blowing around or spilling. Bags of different sizes can be ordered online and posted to you. Once filled, you can book collection at a fixed price for each bag size. On arrival, Wascle staff empty the rubbish manually into their van and leave the bag so you can continue tidily collecting. Again, there is no need for contact with them.

Helping communities and the environment

“We’re glad to be able to support locked-down households at this difficult time,” says Jon Ward, Wascle’s Managing Director. “There’s really no need for rubbish to be hanging around people’s homes or – worse still – finding its way out to the countryside. We can collect conveniently and affordably to keep communities clean and protect the environment. I should add that we recycle over 96% of the waste we collect.”
