Press release: It’s a dog’s life

A Truro writer has swapped the bustle of an international marketing agency for a small office at home… and the company of four dogs.

Having spent ten years as a copywriter with the John Knowles Company, Mark Nicholson is going freelance.  It’s a very different work environment and a very different team structure, as Mark explains:

“I have to admit that the dogs don’t contribute a lot to my brainstorming sessions, and they spend most of their time sleeping, but I do feel a sense of support from them.  I’m sure I have their backing in everything I do.”

At the John Knowles Company, based in Falmouth but serving major national and international businesses, Mark’s projects mainly focused on the Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks account for Europe, Africa and the Middle East.  He also wrote on such diverse subjects as air conditioning, electric motors, trade associations, council services, housing, local business support and theatrical events.

Before that, he was the voice of Cornwall Wildlife Trust – working for ten years as its education and publicity manager.  He continues to be an active supporter of CWT and still pursues his specialist interest in reptiles and amphibians.

“I have particular experience in writing for engineering, scientific and environmental organisations but my record shows I can quickly get to grips with any subject and write persuasively on it,” he says.  “I also specialise in proofreading to a very high standard and improving any type of written material.”
